General FAQs

Here are some Frequently Asked Questions about sheds & garages

  1. 1
What is included in my quote?

Our quote includes site specific engineering, full details on what structural components your Trusty Sheds will be made from and the full and final kit price and payment schedule.

  2. 2
How do I find out if I need a permit?

Your local shire is there to help you with any permits. You can get them to ring us if that will help you out.

  3. 3
How do I prepare for the build?

First step is a submitting a building application to the shire and ordering the kit. After approval your concrete slab needs to go down and then after a week or so to cure, erection of the kit.

  4. 4
Do I need to consider climate?

Our Trusty Sheds are designed for our harsh Australian Climate. The main thing to consider is local weather conditions and category ratings for winds and cyclonic conditions. We will provide all the information you need.

  5. 5
How long are they guaranteed for?

Trusty Sheds follow the industry standard Bluescope Steel warranty of 15 years.

  6. 6
What is the best type of shed for storage of boats?

Depends who you talk to. Some will say open front with the wall sheets about 100mm above the concrete to allow air to flow to cut down mildew on a wet boat. Others say it doesn’t matter and they like the added security of a full lockup boatshed. The main things are high enough and wide enough to get easily in and out and secondly, to be able to walk right around it in the shed with enough room to do a bit of maintenance on it without having to tow it outside. A Whirley Bird is a good idea for added ventilation.

  7. 7
Can I make changes to basic styles?

Yes, we can change the pitch of the roof, the length, width, height as well as bay size to suit you.

  8. 8
    Where are your sheds made?

Our Trusty Sheds are made right here in Australia. Our Australia wide network allows us to utilise the closest Bluescope manufacturing facility to you to produce the best structural components.

  9. 9
Why do you use Australian made, isn’t it cheaper to use imported material?

We use Australian made for a few reasons. Firstly Australian steel is as good as it gets and at Trusty Sheds, we only provide the best! We believe in supporting our country and we are proud to be helping to keep Australians employed.

  10. 10
    How are they assembled?

Like a big meccano set. Most components are pre drilled and cut to length. Erection is easy if you follow the supplied plans.

  11. 11
What is the turn around time on an order?

In most cases we can have your kit delivered within 5 weeks.

  12. 12
Do I need to let the neighbors know if I’m building a shed?

Generally not however maybe it’s an excuse for a beer or cup of tea.

  13. 13
What is the highest that I can build and why?

This depends on the local shire and your area. Most shires aren’t going to allow a 6m high shed that casts a shadow on the next 3 houses but are more than willing to help you with any planning issues you may encounter . All it generally takes is a simple phone call to your shire building inspector.

  14. 14

Our advanced system working alongside Google Earth allows us to design your shed to suit your area. It also allows us to take advantage of shielding your shed from other structures giving you even better protection.

  17. 17
Can I build now and add extra parts later, like a shed now and add a carport lean too later?

Yes you can although it generally works out more cost effective to do it all at once. Factors like another Shire building approval need to be taken into account.

  18. 18
What are the most important things to look for in a quote?

Sounds silly but as well as all the details of your kit, the most important thing is vibes and the care factor. How eager was the agent to give you what you really wanted? How happy was he to take the time with you to really find out what you need to achieve with what may well be one of the biggest investments you’ll make? Did he have suggestions on door height and placement? Did he follow up with you? Is he easy to deal with and is he approachable? And lastly, if you have an issue, can you speak to someone at head office who will actually be able to help you or will it be someone who is Customer Service by name only.
